Hudson, 25, is in final negotiations to play the assistant to central character Carrie Bradshaw, played by Sarah Jessica Parker, according to movie industry journals the Hollywood Reporter and Daily Variety. Hudson rose to fame as a contestant on reality television singing show "American Idol" before her breakthrough in hit musical "Dreamgirls," which earned her a best supporting actress Academy Award earlier this year. "Sex and the City" - which follows the tangled love lives of four New York women - went off air in 2004 after a successful six seasons that saw it become one of the most talked-about series in U.S. television history. Filming for the movie gets underway in New York later this month, with all of the principal stars from the television series reprising their roles. 2007-09-14 |
